Free agent center Miroslav Raduljica is finalizing a guaranteed contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the remainder of the season, league sources told RealGM.
Raduljica, a seven-footer, had spent the past week finalizing his buyout settlement with Shandong of the Chinese Basketball Association.
Raduljica’s agent, Matt Babcock of APAA Sports Group, gauged calls around the NBA upon settling the situation in China and sought a guaranteed deal.
In 48 games as a rookie for the Milwaukee Bucks last season, Raduljica was a tremendously efficient player and averaged 3.8 points and 2.3 rebounds. He shot 54 percent from the field and 81.8 percent from the foul line.
Raduljica was traded to and waived by the Los Angeles Clippers in the offseason and returned overseas in China.
As a breakout performer of the Serbian national team’s silver medal finish in the 2014 FIBA World Cup, Raduljica averaged 13 points and 4.6 rebounds over nine tournament games.
Ray Allen remains undecided about whether he will continue his playing career, but he could be leaning towards retirement.
Allen has received interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies, Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards and other clubs.
"I have now heard that Ray Allen is leaning towards retiring," said Brian Windhorst.
The Houston Rockets have waived Tarik Black to create a roster spot for Josh Smith.
There are several teams interested in claiming Black, making it unlikely the Rockets will have to pay his salary.
The Rockets hope Smith will pass his physical and play in Friday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Brady Heslip is considering leaving the D-League to sign overseas.
The Sacramento Kings were giving serious consideration to calling up Heslip from the Reno Bighorns prior to Mike Malone's dismissal.
Heslip is the D-League's leading scorer this season with 27.9 points per game.
The Houston Rockets still hope to open up a roster spot to sign Josh Smith by completing a trade on Friday.
Smith has already agreed to sign with the Rockets after clearing waivers.
The Rockets would have to waive a player if a trade is not found by Daryl Morey.
Josh Smith has agreed to sign with the Houston Rockets.
Smith was waived this week by the Detroit Pistons.
Smith has been promised a spot in the starting lineup and now has the opportunity to play beside former AAU teammate Dwight Howard. Smith only would consider clubs offering a starting spot, which limited his options to the Rockets and Miami Heat
Smith will likely sign a deal with the Rockets for the biannual exception of $2 million once he clears waivers at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
The Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings also had interest in Smith.
Donnie Nelson is confident of the Dallas Mavericks' chances of signing either Jermaine O'Neal or Josh Smith.
The Mavericks need to improve their frontcourt depth after their trade of Brandan Wright in the deal for Rajon Rondo.
"I feel pretty good that we'll be able to come to terms with one," Nelson said Tuesday on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM. "Certainly to come up with both would be just hitting a grand slam home run. Look, there's a long line for suitors on both fronts.
"I think the fact that Jermaine has chosen Dallas to be his home in the long term certainly has its place and resonates with time with family and such. And here's a guy who has a long history not only with our coach but with our point guard/quarterback. That certainly has a place.
"With Josh, again, we're one of a number of potential teams and suitors. It's got to be right with him and with us. We're kind of in the swings of putting our best foot forward. If we're able to hit that one home, it just would be a real, real nice get for us."
The Houston Rockets will assure Josh Smith that he will become their starting power forward if he chooses to sign with them.
The Rockets previously tried to acquire Smith during the 2013 offseason.
Smith will also receive interest from the Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings.
The Philadelphia 76ers will re-sign Malcolm Thomas, according to sources.
Thomas was waived this season by the 76ers on Nov. 10.
