The Boston Celtics are preparing a bid to host a future All-Star Game.

The Celtics haven't hosted an All-Star Game in 53 years.

“We’re looking at an application package,” Grousbeck told the Globe. “But we have to work it out with the Convention Center. We are going to ask for an application package and we’ll see what happens.”

The earliest available All-Star Game is 2022.

“We can’t get all of our fans into the game, all of our season ticket-holders,” Grousbeck said. “We have a season ticket-holder wait list and relatively few of our season ticket-holders would be able to come to a game that we host. But nonetheless, we’re going to get a package and see if we can work something out.”

LeBron James doesn't believe facing teammates in the All-Star Game would impact the locker room of the Cavaliers.

The All-Star Game will have the leading vote getters in each conference serve as captains and select their teammates regardless of conference affiliation.

James is a potential captain as he's frequently led the Eastern Conference in All-Star voting.

"I hope not," James said after Saturday's shootaround. "We're all grown men. It doesn't stop their paycheck from coming. It won't stop you from playing time once the season starts."

James said he doesn't care whether the picks are public knowledge.

"It doesn't matter to me," James said. "It doesn't matter. At the end of the day, if I'm rewarded to be a part of the All-Star Game again, that's cool for me. It doesn't matter. All that other stuff is extracurricular."

Voting for the 2018 NBA All-Star Game will be available via Amazon Alexa.

Votes can also be cast via NBA.com, Facebook, Twitter and Google.

Fans will also be able to have their votes count twice on five select days (Dec. 31, Jan. 4, 11, 12 and 15).

This year's game will feature two captains selecting their teams regardless of conference affiliation. The leading fan vote-getter from each conference will be named captain.

The Indiana Pacers will host the 2021 NBA All-Star Game.

Indianapolis last hosted the All-Star Game in 1985 when it was held in the Hoosier Dome. Ralph Sampson won MVP honors in that year's edition.

This year's All-Star Game will be held in Los Angeles, followed by Charlotte and Chicago.
