Jun 8, 2024 8:43 PM

Chet Walker, a member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Chicago Bulls Ring of Honor, passed away at the age of 84.

Bulls Interested In Trading Up To Draft Matas Buzelis

Jun 8, 2024 9:45 AM

Matas Buzelis has been considered a top prospect in the 2024 NBA Draft for a while now. Recent workouts have solidified his status over recent weeks.

The 6-foot-10 combo forward has shown off an improved jumper, while demonstrating defensive versatility and good playmaking skills for his position. One team interested in potentially moving up for Buzelis in the draft is his hometown Chicago Bulls.

The Bulls watched Buzelis at a private workout in Los Angeles. Chicago president Arturas Karnisovas and Buzelis also share Lithuanian heritage, and familiarity from being around the Lithuanian national program.

In 34 games with the G League Ignite last season, Buzelis averaged 14.1 points on 45.5% shooting. He also grabbed 6.6 rebounds and blocked 1.9 shots per game.

Bulls, Grizzlies, Thunder, Jazz Could Trade Up To Draft Donovan Clingan

Jun 8, 2024 9:36 AM

Donovan Clingan has positioned himself to be a top prospect in the 2024 NBA Draft. Despite that status, Clingan could slip in the draft, because several teams with top picks already have centers in place.

If Clingan starts to slide, a handful of teams are positioned to try to trade up to select him. The Chicago Bulls, Memphis Grizzlies, Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz could all move up from their later-lottery picks to get in range to draft Clingan. The floor for the UConn center is considered to be the Portland Trail Blazers, who hold the seventh overall pick.

Clingan measured at 7-foot-3 with a 7-foot-7 wingspan and a 9-foot-7 standing reach at the Draft Combine. He's considered an outstanding defender, and he has nice touch on his jumper too. Many scouts envision Clingan eventually becoming an all-around offensive threat, who can also protect the rim, similar to a later-career Brook Lopez.

Thunder Interested In Patrick Williams

Jun 4, 2024 9:57 PM

When the Chicago Bulls and Patrick Williams negotiated an extension this past offseason, the team offered a contract above $16 million annually.

Williams will be a restricted free agent this offseason as he comes off a season in which he was limited to 43 games due to a foot injury.

Sources tell The Athletic that the Oklahoma City Thunder have interest in acquiring Williams. While the Thunder have enough cap space to sign Williams outright, the Bulls could match in restricted free agency, which could result in a sign-and-trade negotiation. With their depth of future draft picks, the Thunder could theoretically afford to take on Williams in a sign-and-trade at minimal cost to them.

Bulls Confident Lonzo Ball Will Play During 24-25 Season

Jun 4, 2024 9:54 PM

The Chicago Bulls are confident Lonzo Ball will play next season, but are not sure when that will happen.

Ball last played on Jan. 14, 2022 when he tore his meniscus. Ball has undergone a number of surgeries, culminating in a meniscus transplant.

"There was no more meniscus left, and bone on bone was rubbing," Ball said. "The cartilage was gone and the bone was messed up, so I had to get a new meniscus from a donor. I had to get a bone allograft, and I had to get some new cartilage put in as well."

Ball first suffered a meniscus tear in 2018.

The Bulls signed Ball to a four-year, $80 million deal in 2021.

Bulls Prepared To Drop Asking Price For Zach LaVine Trade

Jun 1, 2024 8:18 AM

The Chicago Bulls were unable to trade Zach LaVine last season before he underwent surgery on his right foot. Whatever asking price the Bulls had for LaVine at that point will likely be lower as they reengage this offseason.

"I do get the sense both sides are motivated to make something work this offseason," writes K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago. "I don’t think the Bulls will take an awful deal if little materializes, but I do get the sense they’re open to more possibilities than before. More to the point: I’ve reported before what their asking price was---All-Star level talent, first-round picks or both---and my sense is that it has dropped significantly."

Johnson adds that "the desire from both sides to make a change has grown."

LaVine re-signed with the Bulls in 2022 on a five-year, $215 million deal. LaVine will make $43 million during the 24-25 season.

In 25 games last season, LaVine averaged 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists.

LaVine is represtned by Rich Paul and Lucas Newton of Klutch Sports.

Lonzo Ball Received Meniscus Transplant, Hopeful Of Playing Next Season

May 24, 2024 11:16 PM

Lonzo Ball revealed part of his recovery from his knee injury suffered in January 2022 has included undergoing a meniscus transplant from a donor.

Ball's injury dates back to when he tore his meniscus in 2018."There was no more meniscus left and bone on bone was rubbing," Ball said. "The cartilage was gone and the bone was messed up, so I had to get a new meniscus from a donor. I had to get a bone allograft and I had to get some new cartilage put in as well."

Ball underwent cartilage transplant surgery in March 2023, a third surgery on his left knee in the span of a year.

Ball is optimistic that he will be ready to play at the start of the 2024-25 season.

"I firmly believe that," Ball said. "That's the plan that I'm on and I haven't had any setbacks. I expect to play the first game."
